The Philip Horizons’ Marketing Committee is sponsoring a FREE marketing workshop for anyone interested in promoting a business, an idea or their community. Dustin Floyd of TDG Communications of Deadwood, SD, loves branding. Good branding principles are at the core of his firm’s approach to everyday marketing challenges. Being part of the first generation to start kindergarten with computers, Dustin has unique insight into the way online trends are shaping the buying habits and attitudes of today’s consumers - and how today’s brands need to adapt.
The workshop will be Wednesday, September 2nd at 6:30pm in Room A-1 at the Philip High School. Please RSVP by emailing Diane Fitch at tiadayan@yahoo.com or contact coach Kelly Roseland at kelly.roseland@sdstate.edu.

The Thrift Store open house was a great success. We served over 100 people for the BBQ lunch and had brisk business inside the store. Mandy Cole won the quilt. The raffle and free will offering raised $510.00 and Modern Woodman will match up to $500.00. We plan on building a new step with hand rails with the money.

Horizon members, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans members, Modern Woodmen members, and the Lyman County Museum members worked together to work at arranging articles at the new Thrift Store and More; cleaning up the town; cleaning the Merchants Park and cleaning at the Museum to get it ready for the opening on Memorial Day. Thanks to all who so generously donated time to work on these projects to make Join Hands Day activities a success. Flower plots were cleared at the park and the museum and flowers will be planted when the danger of frost has passed.

Question 8. Through the Horizon session our community has learned that there are many potential leaders who can and will take charge and promote activities that they feel are important. A number of individuals have stepped forward to help with the Thrift Store that is being started in Presho. Different people have stepped forward to help promote and insure the success of the newly implemented Senior Meals program. Horizons has helped to generate interest in welfare of the citizens of the community and has brought more people into the decision making process. Communication among the citizens about the projects and donations of time and resources has increased.
